Finally Friday! I don’t know about you, but this week has just dragged along.

Anyway, it’s been a good news/bad news kinda week for me – and it will have some impact on the blog, but only temporarily. Bad news is my laptop died on Monday night. And I hadn’t backed up the most recent draft of my play Over the Lips (the expanded version of my New Ideas Festival play The Girls Do Brunch). Thought I’d sent it to my pal Kerri MacDonald, who’s been my director/dramaturge throughout the process – but no. I didn’t even have a hard copy, and I’d stupidly deleted it from e-mail after sending the updated file to myself. I got the official diagnosis from my office IT guy Tony on Wednesday; he’d kindly offered to take a look after I asked him how I could get it back.

Good news is Tony was able to retrieve my documents, so I know have the draft. I’ve since saved it to USB, my office PC, e-mailed it to Kerri and printed it out. And pray that I’ll never be so stupid again.

Since I’m now without a laptop at home – and going shopping for a new one on the weekend – I won’t likely be back here again till Monday. So the blog about my visit to the Love and Obsession Theatre Festival at Red Sandcastle Theatre to see my pal Kat Leonard’s revamped one-woman show about an obsessed Johnny Depp fan, A Depper Kind of Love, may have to wait. Little piece of trivia about yours truly, as it relates to Kat’s subject: Johnny Depp and I are birthday twins. Yep. Same day, same year.

On the upside, I knew this day was coming – the laptop’s days were numbered as it was (I bought it refurbished and I’d had it almost 4 years) – so I’d been doing some laptop research online. And, it seems that Canadian retailers are slashing prices to compete with Black Friday/weekend sales in the U.S.
