Golden Globes & Bomb Girls

So – did y’all catch the Golden Globe Awards last night? Ricky Gervais was back – and up to some somewhat dialled back shenanigans – as host. Lots of fabulous frocks and actors all dressed up. Highlight of the evening’s festivities for me, though, was husband/wife actors William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman’s presentation of the Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini-series or Movie award (which went to Jessica Lange for her role in American Horror Story).  Best. Presentation intro. Ever. Take a look:

Other recent t.v. stuff I’ve gotten into includes Bomb Girls (Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on Global), about women going to work in a munitions plant during WWII – and which looks like it has a gay lady among the characters. Awesome cast, including Meg Tilly as factory matron Lorna and Jodi Balfour as Gladys, a rich girl wild child who defies her family and moves from office gal to factory worker in the plant. And the series was shot in Toronto.

Bomb Girls is definitely worth a look. The art direction is also fabulous – finely detailed and sharp sense of period style.
