Egale Canada casting call

Was just alerted to this casting call by my pal Victoria Shepherd (thanks, Victoria!):

  • Are you a Trans youth/adult or an ally of the Trans communities?
  • Do you have some experience with acting?
  • Do you love using your talents for social justice work?

Then get in touch with us ASAP!

We (Egale Canada) are developing a campaign to build support for Bill C-279 also known as “The Gender Identity Bill”. This would add ‘gender identity’ and ‘gender expression’ to the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code, providing explicit protection for Trans communities and anyone else who doesn’t fit the boxes of ‘Man’ or ‘Woman’.

We are looking to shoot ad spots to help educate the Canadian public about why it’s important to support the bill, and to take action.

We’re looking for actors that can fit the following roles:

2 Trans-identified youth (ages 16+)
1 adult (to play the role of the parent of a Trans youth)
3 non-Trans identified persons (ages 18 — 65)

We strongly encourage persons of all racial/ethnic backgrounds and abilities to apply.

No knowledge of Bill C-279 is required. Actors will be chosen based on their talents.

Those selected for the final shoot will be financially compensated for their time.

Interested? Email a picture/headshot of yourself, and a short paragraph detailing your acting experience…or why you can nail the script if given the chance. Footage of your previous work may also be submitted if available.

Auditions will be held the week of April 30th 2012.

Using the subject heading “Gender Identity Bill Audition”, email it to campaigncasting@gmail.com
