Book blurbs for fun – Big Bad Me

Hi, all. Yeah, I know – it’s been a while. And, once again, I realized I was doing a lot of writing and editing for other folks and not doing my own. On the upside, I’ve been getting better at an annual goal that I keep renewing every New Year’s Day: reading more. And, as you know, I’m a big fan of writing book blurbs. So, I have a bit of catching up to do, with a few that I’ll be posting over the next couple of weeks. I’ll post in order of reading, starting with Aislinn O’Loughlin’s YA novel Big Bad Me.

Illustrated cover of the YA novel Big Bad Me by Aislinn O'Loughlin, featuring three older teens. A young woman (centre) with long red hair grins at us as she holds up her right hand, which is morphing into a hairy claw. To the left of her, a dark-haired young man wearing glasses. To the right, a young blonde woman holding a wooden stake at the ready. In the background, a dark shadow figure rises above the small town below.

Evie Wilder is a bright, curious, independent-minded teen, dealing with a lot of the usual teen stuff. Oh, plus coming to grips with the fact that she’s a werewolf, while helping Kate, her older sister, find their missing mother. Their search brings them to a small town, where they form an unexpected and uneasy allyship with Kevin, the hot, nerdy teen manager of the guest house they’re staying at. Oh, yeah, and the town is infested with vampires. Also, what else is Kate not telling her – and what is she not telling Kate? YA novel Big Bad Me gives readers shades of Buffy and other beloved occult favourites – a supernatural adventure with a quirky, dark and irreverent sense of humour where both the good guys and bad guys aren’t always what they seem. And the vamps’ fun keeps getting disrupted by those meddling kids.

Visit your local bookshop to get Big Bad Me – if they don’t have it in stock, ask them to order it for you. Or get it from the publisher.
